The Colonia Güell and the Crypt of Gaudi are a must-visit for architecture buffs and only 30 minutes from Barcelona.

The Crypt Güell is a church, declared a world Heritage site by Unesco and is located within the set of the Güell Colony, industrial town, a modernist custom-built Eusebio Güell.

At the end of the NINETEENTH century, Eusebio Güell, entrepreneur and patron of Antonio Gaudi, he decided to move to a textile factory outside of the city of Barcelona is already around so he built a small town with all services, to live their workers.

This type of construction, very popular in Catalonia at this time were called colonies.

The colonia Güell, is the largest in Catalonia and the best preserved. In she worked different architects of the time, in addition to the great Gaudí, who was in charge of the construction of the Church, now known by the name of Cripta Güell.

During our walk, we will see the different buildings of the colony, the factory, the houses, the school, and of course the church.

The Crypt, is a church of striking and unique, inclined columns, different types of materials, stone, brick and stained glass windows...where Gaudi experienced many of his architectural solutions and placed his laboratory to give the basis of the construction of the Sagrada Familia.

To complete our visit we will go to the Interpretation Center, located in the building that was the former commissary of the colony, and where there is a permanent exhibition with a detailed explanation of the architectural ensemble.
